Now Accepting Applications for Interns
2008 season is mid-April ~ October      
We have open positions for 2-4 interns.

We offer housing and a $200 stipend.

Positions filled on a rolling basis. We will show preference to applicants who can commit to the whole season or solid half seasons.

If the right person joins our operation, we will be taking on a new farmers' market commitment.
We have a dynamic and unique operation, and offer a variety of different tasks and learning opportunities.

We manage
100+ acres of apples and pears, and 3 acres of peaches organically.

We keep 25+ hives for pollination and honey harvest.

We have
four greenhouses and specialize in tomato, winter greens, pole bean rotations.

We grow
row crops such as winter squash, green beans, and a large, mixed market garden for CSA and Farmers' Market.

We grow
8,000 rhubarb plants which we harvest and press on-farm for wineries.

We grow
1400 blueberries plants and 3 acres of strawberries which we wholesale, sell locally, and offer PYO.

We manage and tap an extensive sugarbush, producing high quality maple syrup.

This year we are adding:
   
a sizable pastured laying flock
   
pastured broiler chicken production and on-farm processing, and heritage breed pastured pork.


Intern Duties
including but not limited to:

Pruning blueberries.
Seeding and transplanting, in the field and in the greenhouse.
Greenhouse maintenance: bed prep, irrigation.
Laying mulch, hoeing, weeding, cultivating.
Harvesting and packing vegetables for CSA and market.
Compost making/monitoring.
Soil tests/pest ID and monitoring.
Picking fruit (strawberries, peaches, blueberries, plums, grapes).
Animal care: daily chores of feeding, watering, moving pens and fence, eggs.
Willing and capable individuals can learn to process chickens.
Farmers' Market, CSA event help, stand help.
Food preservation such as making pickles and processing/freezing fruit.
Light construction and tractor work for individuals with experience/desire.

Special skills and learning to gain:

Understanding of how an established Farmers' Market operates- collective success and individual vendor success.
Diverse marketing strategy.
Orcharding.
Greenhouse management.
Storage.
Work ethic and pride in a job well done! Not to be overlooked.
